Tagging Info (handwritten tags)

As a consignor of the Little Lambs Sale, you set the price of your items.  However, we require that items be at least $1.00 and are in 50 cent increments ($1.00, $3.50, $5.00, etc.).

A good rule is 1/3 the retail price of the item, but you should also consider the brand and condition of your item.  Shoppers are more likely to pay a little more for popular brands or items that still have tags on them.

Price them as if you were buying them yourself.

Saturday shoppers are very thrifty and often will not even consider an item unless it is half-price; therefore, we recommend allowing your items to go half-price on Saturday.  However, if you do NOT want your items to be half-price, write "ND" (for no discount) in the bottom right corner of the tag.

Tagging Supplies (for hand-written tags)

  • 3"x5" index cards (no scraps of paper or index cards in other sizes, please)
  • 1" or larger safety pins (no straight pins)
  • ink pen or marker
  • hangers
  • ziplock bags (for non-clothing items)
  • masking or packing tape (for non-clothing items)

Tagging

See example above for tag contents and below for how to hang clothing.

You are welcome to use pant hangers if you have them.  If you are safety pinning pants to a wire hanger, please pin to the top wires close enough together that the pants don't slide around on the hanger.  Pants that bunch in one corner of the hanger are usually overlooked by shoppers!

Please make sure that all information on your cards is LEGIBLE and complete!

Your consignor number goes in the top left corner of the card.

PICKING UP?...Consignors will write a "P" (for "pick up") immediately following the consignor number on the tag of each item that they would like to retrieve following the sale.  Unsold items without a "P" after the consignor number will NOT be sorted and are immediately donated to charity after the sale.

The size of your item goes in the top right corner of the card.

The description of the item goes in the center of the card (including the brand and color helps us if the tag is separated from the item).

The price goes under the description of the item.

Put "ND" in the bottom right corner if you do not want your item to be half-price on Saturday.

All tags should be attached to clothing with a 1" or larger safety pin (absolutely no straight pins or tiny safety pins, please!)

Please note that there is a $5 fine for consignors who do not follow our tagging instructions.  Tags done incorrectly slow down check out at the sale and check processing after the sale.

Instructions for Shoes and Other Items

Make sure that all tags contain the required information and are securely attached to your items!

Tie shoes together or use a safety pin through shoe lace holes to connect.

Group items (like socks, books, etc.) so that their minimum value is $1.00.

Place loose pieces in a ziplock bag.  Firmly attach the bag to item.  Secure your index card in a visible spot.

For items with multiple parts, it is best to tag and # each part (part 1 of 2 / part 2 of 2).  Also price item so that potential buyers will know that the price includes all/both pieces.

Remember...items sell best when they look and smell new!  It's worth your time to launder and press clothes, clean items, and write clearly on your tags!
